June 2021

Greetings from New York City,

We wanted to share a quick update. Naomi and I both remain healthy as we continue to invest in God’s Kingdom. COVID-19 is still a reality in our lives as some we have been in contact with have tested positive recently. We got tested yet again and are very thankful for the negative results.

We are happy to report that more teams are coming back to the city now. The past three weeks, we had 40 college students from upstate New York here for urban training and outreach to the homeless. This included in-classroom and on-the-street training. It is a privilege to get to pour into these young people’s lives. Some team members shared how their time with me has opened their eyes, bringing them to tears or have summed up their experience as “life-changing.” It is encouraging to know what I do here not only impacts this city but goes back to other parts of our country as people see and respond to needs in their communities. Recently I received a text from a lady that was here about a month ago from North Carolina. She is now reaching out to the homeless in her town. She said, “God is so good! Thanks for equipping me to serve Him like you.” With or without a team, I continue to spend most of my time on the streets with the forgotten.

I had an encouraging video call to Kenya recently. The carpentry program has produced 35 newly designed chairs that are almost ready to hit the market. The recent investment of the band saw and training help to make this possible. Everyone there wants to know when Paul and Naomi are coming back.

Naomi continues to help at NYSUM in various roles, but her main job is creating schedules for the outreach teams. NYSUM has asked her to commit to working full-time this summer, June through August. I love having her out on the streets with me whenever she has time. When she is not with me, many are asking where Mrs. Paul is?

We are so GRATEFUL that GOD always shows up!!

We appreciate your prayers for continued health and strength. Also, for God’s timing to return to Kenya after August.

Blessings,
Paul
