Hello Friends and Family,
It is hard to believe that the first month of 2020 is already gone. January was a continuation of our time in New York City. There we continue to partner with the New York School of Urban Ministries where Naomi is loved by all. She has had a busy month of scheduling teams that will come for short term missions in NYC, while I continue to reach out to the homeless. I have come to describe myself as a “Hope Dealer.” This past month, I was also able to help Nomi Network with a project that they needed to be done in the office. NOMI continues to work with trafficking victims in Cambodia and India.
The biggest event in January was my trip to Haiti. After praying for the needs in that country every day since last March, I was finally able to visit Port au Prince. When I arrived, I learned that 80% of the missionaries in Haiti have left in the last three months due to the violence and unrest. I saw some areas of the areas affected by the violence, but I was not in any personal danger. My trip was a short survey trip to plan on setting up a carpentry program to train people so they can provide for their families. When the poor are able to provide for themselves, they are not as vulnerable to hunger, disease, and trafficking. I was also able to help a local ministry with fixing drawers, doors, and tabletops. God orders our steps and I can see His guidance to make necessary partnerships on the ground in Port au Prince.
Because God is so good and gives us the desires of our hearts, I was able to make a personal trip to Germany in early January to see our son Andrew. Together we were able to visit France and the Swiss Alps. Our God is amazing! Mid-February through March will be full of leading NYSUM teams in NYC. Spring break is a very busy season at NYSUM. I plan to go back to Haiti in early April to begin the carpentry program.
Heading into 2020 we praise God for:
- His provision in 2019.
- The tailoring and carpentry programs that we invested in Kenya continue to move. forward even while we are not there.
Please help us pray for these specific needs:
- Naomi’s Health (Still recovering from Kenya).
- Wisdom moving BLIP forward.
- Understanding, favor, and finances as we start the carpentry program in Haiti.
- Wisdom/knowledge for a possible water project in Kenya.
Once again we want to say how thankful we are for your prayers and support.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Paul and Naomi
