Fall 2019

Hello Family and Friends,

I am writing this from NYC to let you know where we have been and where God is leading us. We have been in NYC all summer long partnering with the New York School of Urban Ministry and continuing to invest in relationships with people struggling with addictions and homelessness. We stay at the NYSUM campus and are grateful for a place to stay because housing in this city is a challenge. However, this this housing situation has meant moving four times between June and September.

For the past few months, Naomi has been very busy helping at NYSUM. They are short staffed, so she has been volunteering in the office 5-6 days a week. I help NYSUM by being a team leader. This involves leading church groups and college students from Canada and the US on outreaches throughout the city and speaking to them about God’s love for the poor. Most of my outreaches are with the homeless on the streets but also involved homeless shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, and Prayer Stations.

As we finish the year, our schedule is quite full. Naomi is feeling stronger after her recovery from Malaria. I found out after my return from Kenya that I had a parasite and bacteria in my gut that was not invited, but I am healthy again. Lord willing, on October 28th we leave for Kenya to continue to follow up on our previous time there. We plan a short trip of 2 weeks this time.

Once back in NYC we will work with NOMI NETWORK setting up their Holiday Markets and with NYSUM helping with their Thanksgiving and Christmas outreaches, Operation Drumstick and Christmas Compassion. Naomi will continue to work in the NYSUM office. In-between all that I am supposed to spend a few days in Haiti. This will be a survey trip to start vocational classes similar to what we are a part of in Kenya. When the poor of this world can provide for their families, they are less vulnerable to disease, hunger, violence and human trafficking.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support!
God is Good All the Time!
Paul and Naomi
